The Illinois Symphony Orchestra’s “Nordic Nights” will feature clarinetist John Bruce Yeh. Yeh was the first Asian musician appointed to the Chicago Symphony Orchestra (CSO) and its longest-serving clarinetist. He joined the CSO in 1977 and was named assistant principal and solo E-flat clarinet and served as acting principal clarinet from 2008-2011. Yeh has also performed as guest principal clarinet of the Philadelphia Orchestra as well as with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra in Korea and the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra in China. Saturday’s performance will include pieces by Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg and Finnish composer Jean Sibelius. The concert is at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $21-$63, $6 for students age 6-26 and children age 5 and under are free. Tickets may be purchased online at uis.edu or by calling 206- 6160.
