On Thursday, Nov. 1, take in a reception for “Love You, Bro,” an exhibition by Chicago-based visual artist Stephanie Graham that explores relationships and the ways in which affection is expressed between African-American men. Graham’s photos, videos and installations examine subcultures, social class, relationships and Black America, and her work utilizes humor, soul and satire to approach and facilitate otherwise difficult conversations regarding race and gender. As a graduate of Columbia College Chicago, Graham is an accomplished artist whose work has been presented at the Hyde Park Art Center, Mana Contemporary (Chicago), the Gene Siskel Film Center, the public collection of the Chicago Historical Society and in other galleries and exhibitions. “Love You, Bro” will be on display at the UIS Visual Arts Gallery through Nov. 15.
