Celebrate the fall harvest during the annual Apple ‘n Pork Festival at the C.H. Moore Homestead DeWitt County Museum in Clinton. The family-friendly event, which began 50 years ago with a pot of soup and a stack of sandwiches, has expanded to become one of the most popular festivals in downstate Illinois. The festivities include more than 25 booths featuring apple and pork dishes, a juried art show, a large flea market, an antique tractor and farm equipment exhibition, Civil War interpreters, woodcarving and blacksmithing demonstrations, opportunities to tour the home of C.H. Moore (a law partner and close personal friend of Abraham Lincoln), live musical entertainment, pony rides, tomahawk throwing, a “Pigs on Parade” contest, and much, much more. Admission to the festival and flea market grounds is free, and more information is available online at http://chmoorehomestead.org or by calling 935-6066.
