Why wait until November for the next Route 66 International Film Festival when you can attend these special screenings Thursday, August 23 and Thursday, August 30? First, check out Before I Do, a fulllength movie filmed on location in Springfield by director Kim Conner, which tells the story of a 40-yearold Midwesterner caught between pursuing a career as a painter and maintaining his job as a firefighter, starring Omar Gooding (brother of Cuba) and Thea Camara, recently seen in Spike Lee’s Chi-Raq. Next week, pull up a seat for a special screening of The Streaker, a wacky, exhibitionist-themed sports/caper film from Switzerland which won the Best Comedy award at last year’s Route 66 Festival. Appropriately enough, both screenings will be held at the Route 66 Hotel and Conference Center, located at 623 E. Joseph St. in Springfield. Showtime will be 7 p.m. for both films. Admission is $5.
