Elementary and middle-school age children are invited to ease back into education with complimentary back-to-school activities for children at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library on Saturday, Aug. 4 from 10 a.m. to noon. The activities are designed for children in grades first through eighth, and some activities, such as a giant game of Operation, a selfie station and a Gettysburg Address world puzzle are inspired by the Library’s popular Civil War Tech program, which bridges history and technology. Other activities were created to honor two of Abraham Lincoln’s sons, Robert and Tad Lincoln, such as a mini-golf course in honor of Robert, a golf enthusiast, and an origami frog-making in honor of Thomas, affectionately nicknamed “Tad” (short for Tadpole) by his father.
