Champaign-Urbana native Kayla Brown can count many achievements in her career in music performance and composition. Kayla started on her musical adventure professionally in 1997 and since then has performed locally, regionally and nationally, from coffee shops to festivals, including a proud moment singing “God Bless America” and the national anthem at Wrigley Field in 2011. Along with her busy solo schedule, Kayla also fronts the indie-rock quartet We the Animals and is half of an indie-folk duo called Dearie, both based out of C-U. She’s currently working on recording in the studio for all three projects with expected 2018 release dates. Kayla’s summer schedule includes a slew of Illinois wineries, a couple of festivals in the C-U area, a public library performance and some local bar gigs. Check out her YouTube videos online for a real taste of her powerfully-emotive voice and engaging stage presence, then head out to Rochester on Saturday for an in-person listen to this creative and talented singer, songwriter and guitarist.
