High school students from Sangamon County will be among more than 30 budding Midwest entrepreneurs scheduled to gather Sunday at the Keller Convention Center in Effingham for a trade show sponsored by the Midland Institute, a nonprofi t organization based in Effingham that seeks to instill business thinking in young folks.

The event will feature products and services offered by kids chosen from 168 schools in nearly 40 rural towns and communities throughout the region, the organization says. The show is part of Midland’s CEO (stands for creating entrepreneurial opportunities) program aimed at teaching teamwork, responsibility, communication, imagination and other worthwhile things. Products on display will run the gamut, from jewelry to gourmet mustard made with beer to gadgets designed to soften the odor of smelly shoes. Participants will also pitch service businesses that include an outfi t that delivers furniture, pharmaceuticals, food and other stuff as well as a taxidermy business. The show is scheduled to start at 1 p.m. and conclude at 4 p.m.
