Bring your friends, families, blankets and lawn chairs to the Thomas Rees Memorial Carillon on Friday, May 18, and settle in for a showing of Disney’s Coco, the first installment of the Springfield Park District’s 2018 “Movies in the Park” summer entertainment series. Coco is a 3D computer-animated fantasy film that tells the story of Miguel, a 12-year-old boy who is accidentally transported to the land of the dead in search of his great-great grandfather, a deceased musician. The film, produced by Pixar Animation Studios, is rated PG and has a runtime of 109 minutes. All “Movies in the Park” showings are scheduled to begin at dusk, which is forecasted to be around 8:40 p.m. on Friday, May 18. Children’s games and activities plus food for purchase will be available starting at 6:30 or 7 p.m. All “Movies in the Park” events are free to the public.
