On Saturday, April 21, show your support of ending sexual violence and raising awareness of sexual assault in the Springfield community during “Walk A Mile in Her Shoes: The Men’s March to Stop Sexual Violence.” This annual event is open to participants of all genders, but to add a fun twist to the march, men will be encouraged (not required) to complete their mile-long march while wearing high-heeled shoes. Registration will begin at the Prairie Center Against Sexual Assault at 9:30 a.m., and the march will begin at the Old State Capitol Plaza at 10:45 a.m. Participants will then walk one mile to the Illinois State Capitol for a rally at 11:15 a.m., to be followed by an after-party at The Alamo at noon. Registration for the 12 th annual walk can be completed online at http://firstgiving.com/organization/pcasa. A $35 fundraising minimum must be reached in order for attendees to participate in the march. Questions about “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” may be directed to the Prairie Center Against Sexual Assault by phone at 744-2560 or via email at development@prairiecasa.org.
