The University of Illinois Springfi eld will host two screenings of the “Hidden

Histories” fi lm series, including the short fi lm A Song for Manzanar, produced and directed by Springfi eld native Kazuko Golden and based on a story of the family of her mother, Springfi eld resident Yosh Golden, who was born in the Manzanar concentration camp in California during WWII. Both screenings are free and open to the public. UIS associate professor of political science Richard Gilman- Opalsky will moderate a panel discussion following the 4 p.m. showing, featuring Kazuko and Yosh Golden. The screenings will be held on Friday, Oct. 6, at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. at UIS Brookens Auditorium, located on the lower level of Brookens Library.
