Join Springfield Bicycle Club on this annual recreational bicycle ride the Sunday after Labor Day. This year’s theme is “Plains Spokin’” as riders head to Pleasant Plains for lunch and then add mileage loops from there. The largest bicycle century event in Illinois held outside a major metro area, the CCC draws up to 800 riders annually. It features well-marked route options of 10 to 100 miles over flat to slightly rolling terrain. A special double metric (125 mile) option will be offered again in 2017. The course layout and rider support services along the way (including food stops, bike shop services and SAG support) encourage all riders to stretch their abilities and achieve a personal mileage goal. A post-ride party with food and live music by Craig Russo Latin Jazz Project is included in the cost of registration. Registration is online, by credit card only and closes on Sept. 8.
