Step back in time and take in a performance of Loose Lips Sink Ships at Theatre in the Park, located within Lincoln’s New Salem State Historic Site. Showtime is 8 p.m. nightly Aug. 18-20 and 24-26, with complimentary preshow entertainment beginning an hour before each performance. The musical, set in a shipyard in Wisconsin’s Sturgeon Bay during WWII, follows a group of young men who enlist in the United States Armed Forces after the 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor and the women in their lives who abandoned traditional female roles by working jobs in the shipyard in order to reinforce U.S. war efforts at home. At its core, Loose Lips Sink Ships is about the sacrifices women made during WWII and the impacts that these changes had, not just on their lives, but on the lives of everyone around them. Tickets to Loose Lips Sink Ships are $15 for adults, $13 for seniors and $10 for children under age 12. For tickets and more information about Theatre in the Park, visit http://theatreinthepark.net.
