Fair pricing for everyone
The Sangamon County Fair has made some exciting changes in time for the 2017 season, which runs June 13-18. General admission pricing has been reduced and a new concert ticket price has been introduced in order to allow fans to customize their fair experience by paying for only the events and facilities they’ll attend or use.
This year, general admission to the Sangamon County Fair includes all ground acts and unlimited carnival admission. Grandstand entertainment is not included, and a concert ticket that includes general fair admission will be required for those wishing to attend grandstand concerts. On Wednesday, June 14, however, a general admission ticket will also grant admission to the family friendly CrossRoads Pro Rodeo, held in the grandstand at 7 p.m. General fair admission will cost $10 on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and $5 on Tuesday and Sunday – the first and last days of the fair. Admission is free for ages 3 and under every day. The grandstand concerts on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights require tickets that cost $20 a piece. That price does include general fair admission, which means concertgoers will not need to purchase an additional general admission ticket. Grandstand tickets can be purchased in advance online at http://sangcofair.com or at the Grandstand entrance during the fair.
The grandstand concerts have always been a major attraction for the Sangamon County Fair, and this year’s lineup is no exception. This year’s grandstand performances offer a blend of rock and country acts such as Trent Harmon with Michael Tyler Thursday, June 15; Aaron Lewis with The Steel Woods and Lick Creek Friday, June 16; and The Cadillac Three with Broseph E. Lee and Bailey Bryan Saturday, June 17. A “Sangamon County Fair Party Pack” is available online while supplies last, offering all three days of grandstand concerts and general fair admission for just $50.
Other attractions include queen and little miss pageants, department exhibits, livestock entries, a talent show on June 17 at 1 p.m., a chili cookoff, demolition derby, and grounds acts such as Chris Camp the Whip Guy, the Kandu and Company Magic Show, daily lumberjack shows featuring 11 lumberjack events, the Emerson Farm Petting Zoo, H.A.Y.L.O.F.T (Helping All Youth Learn of Farming Techniques) presentations, a carnival and midway hosted by Swyears Amusements (please note that the carnival will be closed daily from 5-6 p.m.), and the Miller Lite Beer Pavilion, featuring nightly entertainment from some of central Illinois’ hottest bands such as Off the Wall, Captain Geech and the Shrimp Shack Shooters, The Shenanigans and Lick Creek.
