Mason City Limits Comedy Club is honored to host former contributing writer on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” and current writer and frequent guest of the “Bob and Tom Show,” Rob Haney March 24-25, at 8 p.m. on both nights. Haney is a relatable comic whose jokes center on gentle recognition humor about kids and parents, turning everyday trivialities into hilarious jokes that touch the common thread in us all. Haney, an Ohio native, began his comedy career while living in Los Angeles during the late 1970s but moved to back to Ohio in the early 1980s, accepting a newspaper job in Dayton in order to support his family. As Haney settled into life in Dayton, he continued performing his comedy sets on the side, and in 2000 the industrious Haney purchased Ohio’s oldest comedy club, Wiley’s Comedy Niteclub, from founder comedian Dan “Wiley” Lafferty. Although Haney sold the club in 2016, his love for smaller comedy clubs is still palpable today.
