A program aimed at helping single mothers out of poverty by hiring them to refurbish furniture will celebrate its one-year anniversary by holding a sale on Saturday, March 25. Named “Wooden it be Lovely,” the program was founded by Rev. Margaret Ann Jessup and is described as an “innovative ministry designed to help lowincome women in transition.” The program began in March of 2016 with two employees and has provided work for 16 women in the ensuing year. The upcoming sale will include chairs, benches, table and chair sets, shelves, cabinets, dressers as well as “colorfully painted and unique pieces” and oak furniture with its original fi nish. The sale begins at 9 a.m. on Saturday, March 25, at Douglas Avenue United Methodist Church, 501 S. Douglas Avenue.
