On the heels of the announcement by SOHO Music Festival founder Eric Welch of plans to end the popular annual charitable event after 12 years (See “SOHO No Mo?”in IT, March 2, 2017), a few of the festival’s former directors have announced a new nonprofi t to put together “The Legacy of Giving Music Festival” (L.o.G. Music Fest for short), now scheduled to take place in downtown Springfi eld on June 2 and 3, 2017, the dates previously reserved by SOHO. “Other than a new name,” spokesperson Bryan Tippy said, “Legacy of Giving will operate exactly as SOHO did for 12 amazing years, and the proceeds from this volunteer-driven event will be given back to 10 local charities.” Plans for the L.o.G. Fest include performances by 60 bands across 5 stages, a vendor fair and kids area. “We’re also working on a bags or bocce ball tournament,” Tippy said. “Our mission, at its core, is to continue the Legacy of Giving that was created by SOHO, because we believe that the benefi t to the community speaks for itself.” For further information visit the L.o.G.
