A man on the move, Rockin’ Johnny has really been rocking in the past year. He relocated to California from Chicago, toured mainland Europe between Halloween and Christmas, promoted a CD, recorded another CD, gigged nearly every night, and now he’s showed up on our doorstep to take the Springfield area by storm while doing dates in Chicago and Wisconsin in between these local shows. His last CD, Greetings from Greaseland, recorded at the famed Greaseland Studios in San Jose a few years back, prompted his move to the West Coast through working with blues singer and harpist Aki Kumar. His newest work of blues magic, Neoprene Fedora, again placed him in the same studio with the same recording team, this time for a two-day session that contains several original songs set for an official release date of March 15. Upcoming touring plans includes Russia (be careful, Johnny!) and France, plus a recording session in Minneapolis before heading back to California and continuing the music adventures of a modern blues master.
