The Burgers Are Coming!
Readers,
we know you rely on IT for thoughtful news coverage, a comprehensive
calendar of events and regular lifestyle features about things you care
about. And one thing we know you love for sure is food. So we’ve
partnered with Gordon Food Service, Visit Springfi eld and 19 local
eateries to bring you a culinary tour to delight your taste buds.
January will soon become one of your favorite months – once you get a
taste of 217 Burger Week.
Participating
restaurants have called on their talented chefs to create awesome and
unique off-menu burgers for one week only – Jan. 23-29. You get to try
as many as you like for fi ve bucks apiece – but only next week. How
many burgers can you fi t in your belly over a seven-day period? You’ll
have lunch and dinner options at all locations. Keep us posted on your
progress by sharing your #217BurgerWeek photos on Facebook, Twitter and
Instagram. We’ll monitor your posts and award some prizes to hotshot
social sharers during the week. The IT staff is busy planning when we
will eat where, and we’ll try and give you a heads-up on our plans so
you can look for us next week.
Here
is a list of our restaurant partners, and descriptions of the special
burgers that are being created for your delight. You can find photos,
hours of operation and links to restaurant social media sites at
217burgerweek.com. You’ll also find our recommended code of conduct
there – it’s also printed within these pages. This is our first
expedition into an epic food week, and none of us are sure what to
expect. This is a dine-in experience only, so please don’t ask for
take-out. Let patience and kindness rule the day, and remember to tip
your wait staff. It’s likely they’ll be running their buns off.
Thanks to our restaurants, sponsors and all of the folks involved in putting this together. Let’s eat some burgers!
