Escape the chilly outdoors and enjoy a heartwarming concert by the Illinois Symphony Chamber Orchestra on Friday, Dec. 16, 7:30 p.m., at Springfield’s First Presbyterian Church. The concert will feature German composer George Philipp Telemann’s operatic take on the tale of Don Quixote, Hindemith’s “Concerto for Woodwinds and Harp,” and closes with Beethoven’s illustrious “Second Symphony.” The concert also offers the opportunity for attendees to meet the Illinois Symphony Chamber Orchestra members during the “Take 5” intermission, as well as a “Talk-Back” with music director candidate Ken Lam and the ISCO musicians following the performance. Tickets for the Winter Winds Concert cost $5 for students and $20 for general admission. Advance tickets can be purchased through the Sangamon Auditorium ticket office by calling 206-6160.
