Artistic producer Deke Sharon, best known for his vocal direction on Pitch Perfect and Pitch Perfect 2 as well as his work on NBC’s hit a capella singing competition “The Sing Off” is hailed as “the father of contemporary a capella,” according to Entertainment Weekly. Catch the live concert experience curated by Deke, Vocalosity, on Wednesday at Sangamon Auditorium. Vocalosity is comprised of 10 singers including Springfield native Nattalyee Randall, best known in central Illinois for her roles as Effie White in the Springfield Theatre Centre’s production of Dreamgirls and the narrator in the Springfield Muni Opera’s production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. While most vocal groups strive to create a uniformly blended style and sound, Vocalosity seeks to create a varied and layered sound that is derived from the group’s different combinations of voices and characters. Vocalosity contains musical influences from tenth-century Gregorian chant, barbershop quartets and doo-wop along with songs by The Beatles, Bruno Mars and more.
