An emo-indie-alternative rock band out of Nashville, Tenn., this quartet of Peyton Rodeffer (vocals, guitar), Sean Jensen (bass), Dagan Crews (drums, vocals) and Andy Pollitt (guitar) started as a solo project and ended up as a band out on the road. The adventures began when singer-songwriter Rodeffer went on a two-day songwriting binge about divorce, with loss and longing in there for good measure. The other fellows joined in to flesh out the folky tunes and a band was born. With influences cited as Bright Eyes, My Bloody Valentine and Tom Petty, among others, all these young dudes claim to do is “write songs about girls and being sad” while being interested in “playing shows, drinking beer, darts, coffee and audio/visual stuff.” Their debut record, Happiness, was recorded by Tim Craven (additional recording by Evan Brown) after the engineer/producer saw the band do a gig in Nashville and approached them about making a permanent copy of the songs. The concept album is available on the Wilderness Alive bandcamp page.
