FAIRS & FESTIVALS | State Fair Shuffle

Three of the 1985 Chicago Bears will lead the Illinois State Fair’s annual Twilight Parade on Thursday, Aug. 11. Dan Hampton, Otis Wilson and Steve McMichael are all former Super Bowl champions and current members of a band called The Chicago 6. The band, whose repertoire ranges from ZZ Top to Smokey Robinson to John Mellencamp, will perform a free concert at the conclusion of the parade, complete with fireworks and an autograph session. This year’s procession will begin at the intersection of Ninth Street and North Grand Avenue, and travel up Ninth Street to Peoria Road, up 11 th Street, and pass through the main gates of the fairgrounds. The parade will conclude at the Grandstand with a preview of new attractions for the 2016 Illinois State Fair. Although the parade is free to spectators, a small admission and parking fee will apply to those who wish to enjoy the festivities from inside the fairgrounds. Preview night admission is $5 for adults, $2 for seniors and children, and children ages 12 and under are free.
