BAND SPOTLIGHT | Bob Zany

Not only is he not a band, Bob Zany isn’t even a musician. However, he is one of the funniest guys on the planet, and he’s coming to a comedy club near you (about 43 minutes away in Mason City). As a veteran of nearly 40 years in show business, you’ve heard him on the “Bob & Tom Show” syndicated on hundreds of radio stations (he does the “Zany Report,” naturally), seen him in movies such as Joe Dirt and The Informant (that is, if you looked quickly and carefully), watched him perform in thousands of television appearances (from Showtime specials to late-night talk shows and more), and if you were really, really lucky, you saw him on “The Gong Show” in 1976 when he was still in high school (yes, he was properly booed, gonged and dragged off the stage). In 2010, Zany released a documentary titled Close, But No Cigar documenting his years as a working comedian. In the meantime, he stays on the road doing what he loves best, making people laugh, live and in person, playing off the audience and being funny.
