He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2008, received the Billboard Century Award in 2001, and has been the recipient of the John Steinbeck Award, ASCAP Foundation’s Champion Award, The Woodie Guthrie Award, Americana Music Association’s Lifetime Achievement award, as well as numerous Grammy Awards.
