BAND SPOTLIGHT | Deep Lunar Blue When a group calls itself an “American rock band from Springfield, Illinois” on their website’s homepage, you know they better mean it. Deep Lunar Blue has been setting a standard of original and classic rock jam music in the local scene like no one else does or can since 2009. The talented and diverse bandmates of Casey Cantrall (guitar, vocals), J.J. Moffat (drums), Jay Bohn (bass), Tony Turasky (guitar, vocals), Zach Eymann (harmonica, vocals) and David Alexander (tenor saxophone) bring a wide variety of tastes to the table and it shows in the intensely provocative setlist. Bridging the gap through generations of rock by covering music from the Grateful Dead to Wilco, Bob Marley to Talking Heads, Johnny Cash to Jack White, Led Zeppelin to Widespread Panic, the innovative group also intersperses interesting and captivating originals that fit the canon like a glove. The busy band, now nearing 250 total gigs, host an annual Derby Day Party, play Midwest music festivals plus area bars, and released an album called Watch it Burn in 2010. See also
