BAND SPOTLIGHT | Jackson Taylor and the Sinners

Born just outside Austin, Texas, Jackson Taylor spent his formative years traveling and soaking up the sounds of real country music with his migrant worker family. When, as a young man, he made a move to Nashville, as many aspiring country artists do, the scene there was stifling and not as open to his brand of country with punk- and Southern rock-influences. After a wandering phase that included New York City and Los Angeles, Taylor ended up back in Texas where appreciation for his honesty and style rekindled a fire to play music with passion and for pleasure. He now spends a good deal of time gigging across the Lone Star State with runs up through the Midwest. After a New Year’s Eve night in Kansas, he and his Sinners play Pekin and Springfield before boogieing on back to Texas. His fired-up shows project his attitudes in song about women, whiskey, wild times and whatever, increasing a rabid fan base wherever his scorching performances take place. Billy Joe Shaver is a big fan.
