JOSEPH ALLEN STANCIL

Dec. 25, 1978 – Jan. 2, 2015

Joe was a very likeable kid and adult. No matter where he went, he made friends quickly. He was outgoing, compassionate and loving. He loved to travel, and he always asked to bring a friend that otherwise would not have been able to travel as he did. He did very well around adults, even during his younger years; he was polite and could carry on adult conversation with the best of them.

Everywhere he went, all the kids seemed to know him and called him by name. After high school he enrolled in welding school. He became a very good welder and enjoyed traveling for his job. Some of those places were Dayton, Ohio; Daytona Beach, Florida; the Grand Canyon and Detroit, Michigan. He also worked as a caregiver at Brother James Court. He would say, “You know, these people didn’t ask to be born this way.”

Joe enjoyed fishing and camping with his dad and his buddies. He also enjoyed his dogs, woodworking, yard work, gardening, bonfires, making people laugh, scaring people, and, of course, insulting folks again to make them laugh.

Among his travels as a kid, he went to Oahu, Maui and Kauai, Hawaii. He loved the Hawaiian people and the Hawaiian people loved him. He went on a seven-day cruise to Jamaica where he enjoyed Dunn’s River Falls, then continued on to the Cayman Islands, Cozumel, Mexico and St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands. He visited Disney World four times.

While working in Detroit, Michigan, he met and married Sarah Smith; they lived there on and off until he passed away on Jan. 2, 2015.

Joe will always be missed, but especially during the holidays, where he was the life of the party. Everyone always enjoyed helping him celebrate his birthday on Christmas Day.
