LEIGH ANN GALYON SMITH

Jan. 14, 1963 – Jan. 5, 2015

Leigh Ann Galyon Smith was an incredible person. The Queen of Everything! Everyone she came in contact with would probably tell you the same thing. Bubbly, beautiful, amazingly talented, angelic voice, patient teacher and wonderful director. She had much to give, and she gave us everything.

Leigh Ann didn’t do anything halfway.

She directed Wizard of Oz and Beauty and the Beast at Muni, countless shows at Springfield Theatre Centre (White Christmas, Camelot, Sweeney Todd, Pirates of Penzance Jr… and the list goes on). She gave beautiful performances. Whether it was at church or on a local stage, the amount of love she put into a solo or a stage role were equal. She could bring you to tears with her voice – so beautiful it seemed effortless for her – a gift from God. She loved Jesus with all of her heart.

If she cast you in a show, you had better believe that she saw something special in you. You had talent, spunk, you had “it.” She loved cherry slushies from Sonic, pumpkin spice and eggnog lattes, Fannie Mae chocolate, Cadbury mini-eggs, reading, museums, art, zoos, carousels and Disney, but oh, how she hated peas.

Whatever she taught you, shared with you, encouraged you to do, the laugh you shared, the amazing times that were had during shows, singing at church, listening to her sing a solo ... whatever your memory is, hold it close in your heart and remember how very special our LAS was.

Leigh Ann was taken from this world too soon. She wasn’t able to complete everything she wanted, but we have to believe the welcome we will receive when we see her again will be filled with song, laughter and, of course, glitter. Lots and lots of glitter. We love and miss her very much.
