CHILDREN’S CORNER | Learning with lyrics

“Schoolhouse Rock,” the Emmy Award-winning 1970s Saturday morning cartoon that used music and the power of imagination to teach children about history, grammar, math, science and more, makes a small-stage comeback this weekend at the Hoogland Center for the Arts. The musical centers on Janet, a stressed-out schoolteacher who is attempting to relax by watching TV. However, the TV is riddled with characters representing various facets of her personality who encourage Janet to appeal to her students through music and imagination. The show contains some of “Schoolhouse Rock’s” most beloved songs, including “Just a Bill,” “Interplanet Janet,” “Conjunction Junction” and more. Schoolhouse Rock Live! JR is a Springfield Theatre Centre White Rabbit production. For more information about the Springfield Theatre Centre or Schoolhouse Rock Live!
