HISTORY | New Salem at night

Enjoy the rich history of Lincoln’s New Salem State Historic Site during the annual Candlelit Walk Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, from 7-9 p.m. The village will be illuminated with campfires, fireplaces, lanterns and glow sticks during the only annual opportunity to see the historic village at night. Live music will be performed by The Prairie Aires (Friday and Sunday) and Wildwood Strings (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) in the village on traditional instruments such as dulcimers and harps. The village’s log homes and shops will be staffed by volunteers in period clothing and open for touring. Visitors can also view blacksmithing demonstrations by candlelight and enjoy gingerbread and cider in the village’s Rutledge Tavern. Admission is free, although donations of $4 per adult, $2 per child, or $10 per family are suggested.
