HISTORY | Presidential pets

American presidents love their pets. The Obamas adopted a dog named Bo shortly after Barack’s election in 2009, the Clintons brought Socks the cat and Buddy the dog to Washington, and John F. Kennedy kept a pony named Macaroni on White House grounds. What other typical and atypical pets have called the White House home over the course of the years? Find out this Saturday during the Pets in the White House event at Union Square Park. Humans will learn about the various animals that have marked the White House as their territory. Pets will enjoy demonstrations, exercise, crafts, treats from Pawtastic Bakery, a photo booth, pet parade and more. This event is jointly hosted by the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum and the Springfield Animal Protective League.
