The annual Springfield SOHO Music Festival is back and bigger than ever for its’ 11 th year. The two-day music festival takes place between Fifth and Sixth streets on Washington Street north of the Old State Capitol. It consists of 60 local bands performing on five stages, plus an expanded family area and kids’ carnival featuring inflatables, face painting, carnival games, activities, an acoustic family stage and more. Two sporting events were popular additions to last year’s festival weekend: the SOHO 10K on Saturday morning, and the SOHO Open, a disc golf tournament. Both events will return this year. Admission to the music festival is $5 for adults, and free to kids under 12. Registration fees apply for the 10K and disc golf tournament. All proceeds from SOHO support 10 local charities in central Illinois. Last year, SOHO was able to raise $15,000 for charity, even with a Friday rain out. This year, festival organizers are hoping for drier weather and a $30,000 donation goal.
