CHILDREN’S CORNER | Scavenge for symbols Get the kids out of the house and keep their brains sharp this winter break with the Illinois State Museum’s Winter Holiday Search. The free activity is available for pickup at the museum’s front desk Dec. 20 through Jan. 5 during normal museum hours (8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Saturday and from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday). This fun activity will send children searching high and low to locate holiday and winter symbols spread throughout the museum’s exhibitions. While the list is primarily geared toward children in grades 1-5, it is appropriate for children of all ages. All children who complete the Winter Holiday Search will be rewarded with a free Illinois State Museum temporary tattoo. For questions regarding the Illinois State Museum or the Winter Holiday Search, contact the museum at 782-5993. See also
