A treasure of the theater

The local theater community lost one of its finest treasures this past February when our beloved friend, Marge Roth, passed away suddenly. Marge was a talented costumer for local theater groups, but she was so much more than that. She was a friend, health care professional, parent, grandparent, volunteer, leader, confidant, counselor and voice of reason.

Her primary theater home was at The Muni, but her work could also be seen in productions at the Springfield Theatre Centre, the Hoogland Center for the Arts and several local high schools. She was usually the lead costumer for at least two of the four Muni shows each summer, and it was typical for her to lend a hand with the other two shows as well. Her positive outlook made her a natural favorite with anyone who met her.

Marge was the sweetest person, who always had a kind word and warm smile. She was helpful and thoughtful and, as a costumer, really did her best to make sure that everyone felt comfortable with what they wore onstage. She was also the kind of person who you could turn to for help. If she couldn’t do the job herself because of her other commitments, she would make it her job to help you find someone who could.

Marge was devoted to her friends, co-workers, and especially her family. She was taken too soon from all of us, but she will be remembered fondly for years and years to come by anyone who had the pleasure to know her.
