BAND SPOTLIGHT | Idol Rumors

No one does classic rock like the guys who learned the songs before they were classics. When bands like Queen, Kiss, Boston, Judas Priest and Aerosmith rocked our world, local musicians Rusty Lee Ellison (guitar, vocals), Jeff Ellison (drums, vocals), Tim Copp (bass, vocals) and Mark Agnew (lead vocals, keyboards) applied themselves and learned the songs. Now, decades later, after bands like Slick New Face, The Wild, Chosen Stranger, The Outnumbered, Groundhog Day, Fallen Angel and Pop Cherry, the foursome came together for the “new classic hard rock band” called Idol Rumors. A version of the band with the Brothers Ellison won the local, radio-sponsored Rock to Riches band contest in 1983 before going on to a stellar career in area rocking bands. The new version of the band covers classic, hard rock songs from the 70s to the 90s, doing tunes from old friends like Led Zeppelin and newcomers (relatively) like Skid Row, plus all the rock between, along with a fair share of original music.
