BAND SPOTLIGHT | Fireside Relics Starting out as mainly a cover band in 2009 after members met at an open mic, by 2013 Fireside Relics had undergone a few personnel changes while setting a new direction toward original music. They’re still known to pull out the covers from time to time, but the seven-piece ensemble of Kristi Lecocq (vocals, acoustic guitar), Nick Park (vocals, rhythm guitar), Dave Helm (vocals, various instruments), Jon Harvel (vocals, bass guitar), Aaron Davis (lead guitar), Edward J. Williamson (drums) and Carl Becker (keyboards, trumpet) recently hit the studio to record their first CD. This Saturday, they celebrate their hard work and commitment at a release party offering CDs for sale to the public, along with a limited number of special Fireside Relics official T-shirts. Known as a combo that really plays together and off each other, they’ve also earned a reputation as a genre-bouncing band able to comfortably mix elements of rock, blues, jazz, folk, alternative and even “surf rock” with interesting lyrical directions to make truly original sounding originals.
