 HOLIDAY | Downtown delight Capital City Celebration, July 3-5 in downtown Springfield, offers food, drink, free music, activities and fireworks! Capitol Ave. between Fourth and Fifth streets will have a stage with Lick Creek performing at 8 p.m. on July 3, with food and drinks available at 7 p.m. On July 4, a family area opens at 4 p.m. at Second and Capitol with free inflatables for the kids, Miss Capital City Celebration, Little Miss Firecracker and Little Miss Sparkler, Capital City Celebration Prettiest Baby, free ice cream (5 p.m.) and Springfield Municipal Band (6:30). At Capitol at Fourth and Fifth streets, Off the Wall plays at 8 and then free fireworks will go off at 9:30. July 5 at Fourth and Fifth and Capitol, at 4:30, food drinks and crafts vendors will open. A free concert by Steve Bobbit, a Rod Stewart tribute artist, starts at 8 p.m. CCC is sponsored by Springfield Jaycees, Midwest Family Broadcast and Arch Coal Viper Mine.
