When your break in the blues world comes from being discovered by an iconic character such as the great harmonica man Junior Wells (with Buddy Guy for years), things are just going your way. Born in New York City and raised in Miami, Albert Castiglia (pronounced “ka-STEEL-ya”) did just that in the late 90s, as the young, singing guitarist performed several world tours with Wells before his passing. Albert then joined up with Atlanta blues singer Sandra Hall before becoming a solo artist in his own right. His debut album in 2002, Burn, came through a collaboration with a longtime friend, Graham Wood Drout of Iko-Iko. Success continued on Blue Leaf Records as the brilliant guitarist toured constantly, charming audiences with his provocative playing and insightful songwriting. All the acclaim of two decades of blues playing brought the world traveling Castiglia to the attention of RUF Records, an internationally renowned label. In April of 2014 they released Stone Ground, Albert’s seventh album, to critical and fan acclaim, then started a U.S. tour still in motion.
