BAND SPOTLIGHT | Big Guy and the Mob What could be more fitting for a Father’s Day weekend show than a band formed by a father and stepson? Mark Bott (lead vocals) and Danny “the Kid” Schroeder (lead guitar), seasoned musicians a generation apart, initially created Big Guy and the Mob to connect with other players and perform at benefits. Bott, who took off playing music in bars for 30 years to raise a family of seven kids, was lead singer for KISS tribute band LIPZ in the late 70s. Schroeder has shredded in several popular local bands, including the Outnumbered and Groundhog Day. After adding in guitarist Danny Sronce (also in Murder of Crowes), area bon vivant Keith “Tiger” Ramey on bass and the inimitable Oakie Morris on drums, the band was set. Quite proud, and rightfully so, of a three-song Thin Lizzy medley that goes from Cowboy Song to Boys are Back in Town and closes with Jailbreak, other acts covered include, Van Halen, Sammy Hagar, Black Sabbath, Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix and CCR.
