BAND SPOTLIGHT | Hooten Hallers

Formed in Columbia, Mo., circa 2006, as a duo of John Randall on gunslinger guitar and Andy Rehm on destroyer drums, The Hooten Hallers toured the country espousing the glories of modern hillbilly life through blues, soul, country and a whole lot of hootin’ and hollerin’ from all reports. With the recent addition of Paul Weber on tuba and harmonica, along with other odd assorted instruments of ancient origins, the triumphant trio takes the stage by storm with songwriting finesse and musical diversity. With the release of an album recorded live-in-the-studio called Chillicothe Fireball, THH brings a fresh sound to an old style, one of direct intervention with a listening, participating audience, seemingly derived from otherworldly interaction. This makes album number five for the traveling troubadours of musical mayhem with no signs of slowing or surrendering. The guys stay on the road, bringing a music wrought with passion and played with pizazz and punctiliousness to stages everywhere. Opening the show is our ol’ friend and fine entertainer, That Ol’ Coondog.
