BAND SPOTLIGHT | Juke House

Taking a cue and a name from the old “juke joints” of the 40s and 50s that hosted wild and crazy dance nights with groups doing the jump band style, Juke House revives the good-time music with power and purpose. Good musicians need to be playing to pull off the music of masters such as Louis Jordan, Ray Charles, Fats Waller, Louie Prima and Big Joe Turner, and some of the best in town are in Juke House. Members Brian Moore (sax, vocals), Tim Bahn (keyboards, vocals), Mike Lang (bass), Mark Sanders (drums) and Manley Mallard (guitar) started the band last summer, then played a debut gig in November opening for Iowa Blues Hall of Fame artist Ernie Peniston during the Craft Beer Rhythm and Blues Fest held at Donnie’s Homespun. Now into the new year, they take the stage on Saturday evening for Donnie’s newest festival, Frost Fest. When something works why tinker with it and the jump blues sound is delightful, crowd pleasing music. Get on it, you crazy cats!
