Editor’s note “Who am I to judge?” With just fi ve words Pope Francis changed the harsh tone of the Catholic church, possibly saving it from irrelevancy, and reintroduced Christianity to the world. “If someone is gay and he searches for the Lord and has good will, who am I to judge?” Once that kind of nonjudgmental thinking gets started it’s hard to say where it will stop. While the new pope wants a greater role for women in the church, he says they’ll never be allowed to be priests. But if women search for the Lord and have good will, why not? –Fletcher Farrar, editor See also
