  FESTIVAL | Local chow Here’s a festival that’s all about local chow with 12 downtown restaurants participating. A hint of the scrumptious menu to entice you – fried oyster po’boys, cucumber basil watermelon sangria, crab cake sandwiches, deep-fried brownies, lemon berry ice cream, hummus sandwich, hoisin crusted pork belly and Chinese noodles. Purchase wristbands at admission gates near Fourth and Washington, Sixth and Washington, Fifth and Adams and Fifth and Jefferson. A wristband is needed to purchase food and beverage tickets. For a discount, buy in advance online until 2 p.m., July 12. Friday’s music starts at 6 p.m. with ZZ Tripp, followed by Hipbone Sam, Josh Catalano and the Dirty Thoughts, The Heard and Old Shoe. Saturday’s lineup includes Lowder (3 p.m.), Emerald Underground (4:30 p.m.), Harmony Deep, Debbie Ross Band, Hurricane Ruth and Paul Thorn Band (10:30 p.m.). Organizers are excited to unveil a 2,200-square-foot mural painted by Michael Mayosky on the Alamo at 115 N. Fifth. Also, a world record attempt will begin Sat. at 3 p.m. for the World’s Biggest Horseshoe to benefit Children’s Miracle Network at St. John’s. Measuring is at 4 p.m. and attendees can eat a piece for $5.
