BAND SPOTLIGHT | Rockin’ Johnny Burgin Band The blues speaks to all and Rockin’ Johnny knows the language better than most. The Chicago-based singing guitarist plays the blues with an edge, not over the top or in your face, but in the groove and to your soul. Johnny came on strong in the 90s playing all over with everybody, then took a little break from the biz to come back stronger than ever in the last decade headlining festivals, touring Europe and constantly performing. Grim Reaper, his latest release on Chicago’s classic Delmark Records combines raw blues and sensible songs for a hallmark blues album. Joining John to raise the live performance levels are these astounding and resourceful musicians; Rick Kreher (rhythm guitar) played rhythm guitar with Muddy Waters for four years, John Sefner (bass) was formerly with Studebaker John and Eddie Kirkland, and Steve Bass (drums) also plays with Chicago blues legend Eddy Clearwater. A typical show blends classics and standards with lesser known covers, including fine originals, plus a healthy dose of fun and incredible guitar playing. See also
