POLITICS | Future stock World Affairs Council of Central Illinois is holding its next program Wed., May 29, with special guest Dr. Daniel Twining. Dr. Twining serves as a consultant to the U.S. National Intelligence Council where he helped with a new report that identifies four “megatrends” that are certain to shape the future, six “game changers” that will determine what kind of world exists in 2030 (including the role of the U.S., the rise of India, China’s trajectory, and the future of the crisis-prone global economy) and four potential futures, from an optimistic “fusion” world to a pessimistic “fragmentation” to a new kind of world dominated by non-state actors. Twining has a doctorate from Oxford University, is a member of the Secretary of State’s policy planning staff and a lecturer at Georgetown University. This lecture is free to the public. Reservations are required for dinner and were due May 22. For late reservations, contact Michael Plog, 793-2509 or mbplog@comcast. net, to determine if seating is available.
