A great place to take the family and immerse in the heritage and traditions of various world cultures, the Illinois State Museum holds Celebrate Cultural Diversity, Saturday, Feb. 23. From the moment you walk in the door you’ll hear the beats of African drums. Live performances will be flanked by displays and artifacts from India, Greece, Italy, China and other places from around the world. Children can write their names in different languages, paint a ceramic title, play games and more. At 12:30 p.m., instructors from Com-Tec Martial Arts Academy will demonstrate various martial arts techniques in the museum’s auditorium. Celebrate Cultural Diversity is sponsored by Bank of Springfield.
