Editor’s note

We’re moving. Illinois Times will be closed for business this Friday, Jan. 25, and open for business 8 a.m. Monday in our new location at 1240 S. Sixth St. In case we haven’t told you, that’s the new, green and super-cool offi ce building that the architect John Shafer, our friend, landlord and new next-door neighbor, built just for us. It’s a far cry from our fi rst IT offi ce on Eighth Street near the Lincoln home where we pecked on typewriters, the staff shared two telephones and the lone wastebasket was a cardboard box. From there we moved to the Victorian house on Seventh for 25 years, and we’ve been at our current offi ce, the 1960s-modern building on State Street with the wonderful courtyard, for the past decade. After we get settled we’ll have an open house to thank readers, clients and friends for keeping IT moving. –Fletcher Farrar, editor and publisher
