MUSIC | Strong sass Get ready to be wowed by a blues singer Elmore Magazine called the “modern-day, female version of Louis Armstrong.” Another awesome WUIS Bedrock 66 Live concert takes place Nov. 17 at the Hoogland Center for the Arts featuring Davina and The Vagabonds. The magazine got it right. Davina’s sound and fire will heighten your senses. Think Janis Joplin channeled by Billie Holiday with a little Nora Jones for a contemporary twist. Davina Sowers’ vocals cut and heal at the same beautiful time. No newcomer to the stage, she has been performing since age five and is classically trained on the piano. She’s shared the limelight with Little Feat, Buddy Guy, Elvin Bishop, The Lamont Cranston Band, The Blues Brothers, Joe Bonamassa, Irma Thomas and James Hunter, among others, at venues such as House of Blues in Atlantic City, N.J., and the Bayfront Blues Festival in Duluth, Minn.
