ART | Award-winning sculpture The newest exhibit on display at the Springfield Art Association features a look at the lifelong work of local sculptor Paul K. Riemer. The exhibit kicks of with an opening reception, Saturday, Aug. 11, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the Gallery of Art. It is open to the public and includes light hors d’oeuvres and wine. Paul K. Riemer was an ironworker for more than 43 years, mainly repairing and rebuilding bridges on Illinois state highways before retiring in 1986. His award-winning sculpture work includes pieces around town – “True Love” at the Springfield Art Association, a huge sculptural logo at Town and Country Bank on MacArthur Blvd., a large cross in Zion Lutheran Church, Pleasant Plains, and a charming large giraffe at Frazee’s Catering. Riemer’s work is on display until Sept. 1. See also
