ART | Talent trove MacART Fest features two new fine art events from the folks at The MacArthur Boulevard Association set to double your weekend pleasure Friday, June 8 and Saturday, June 9. Art in Action, a Friday night fundraiser for MacArthur redevelopment, boasts some of the tastiest Springfield food, Brazilian jazz from Samba Llamas and 21 of the capital city’s most revered and creative artists demonstrating what they do best. Mike Mayosky puts finishing touches on his amazing Mona Lisa mural with hinged panels that sway with the wind. Betsy Dollar demonstrates hand papermaking, and Mark Gardener heats up the evening with his blacksmithing techniques. (Pictured is a piece by Gardener.) Tickets are available online, at The Paper Boutique or Wildbirds Unlimited, from MacBAC members or at door. Saturday the public is invited to a free juried fine art show and sale with more than 50 exhibitors. The day promises to be filled with music, food and drink for purchase, hands on children’s crafts, and new experiences. Limited parking is in the Standard Mutual Insurance parking lot.
